Maxine D. Hartshorn

Maxine D. Hartshorn, 93, of Beavercreek, Ohio, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at the Sycamore Glen Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel. The Revs. Norman Hartshorn and Daniel Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Hartshorn was a member of Bethel Christian Church, an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God Church, and was founder of Mount of Blessings Children’s Home in Carlisle, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. James Hartshorn; her second husband, Harry Hartshorn; her son, Wayne Hartshorn; a brother, Clark Reeder; and a son-in-law, Lee Williamson.

Survivors include the Rev. Norman and Clarice Hartshorn of Laurel, Vernon and Pat Hartshorn of Miamisburg, Ohio, Janet Williamson of Clayton, Ohio, Joyce and Robert Wuerth of Brecksville, Ohio, and Michael and Gay Hartshorn of Hawthorne, Fla.; sister, Shirley Melvin of Kinsman, Ohio; brother, Pierce Reeder of Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Fern Gail Grieshop and June Taluba, both of Beavercreek; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. this evening at Tobias Funeral Home, which is in the charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.



Annelle Holifield

Annelle Holifield, 71, of Laurel, died Sunday, March 30, 2008.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel in charge of the arrangements.



Joseph H. Harbert Leggett

Joseph H. Herbert Leggett, 93, of Seminary, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Covington County.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Billy King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins with burial in the Eminence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Seminary.

Mr. Leggett was retired from the Masonite Corporation in Laurel as a security officer, a deputy sheriff for Covington County, a farmer, and a cattleman. He served as president of the Southeast Mississippi Livestock Association and was a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church in Seminary. He was a World War II U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Seminary Masonic Lodge #461.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah Phillip and Margaret Idella Temples Leggett; his wife, Grace Anice Mitchell Leggett; four infant children who died at birth; four sisters, Pearl Elizabeth Leggett Bass Thompson, Bertha Idella Leggett Taylor, Mary Gladys Leggett Johnson, and infant Idella Leggett; brothers, William Blain Leggett, Jasper Newton Leggett, James Thomas Leggett, Felix Elmer Leggett, and John Carley Leggett.

Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at Billy King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.



James Porter

James Porter, 46, of Hattiesburg, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Wayside Holy Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gennie Simmons of Hattiesburg; sons, James Porter Jr. of Hattiesburg and Jericho Beason of Erie, Penn.; daughters, Shukina Atkins, Erika McLain, and Kimberly Moore, all of Laurel, and Angelica Porter and Alexus Porter, both of Hattiesburg; sisters, Deborah Wilson of Hattiesburg and LaBrenda Plummer of Gulfport; brothers, Steve Plummer of Gulfport, Henry Lee Donaldson and Bobby Donaldson, both of Flint, Mich., Reevinoils Plummer of Sacramento, Calif., and Odell Cooley of Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Century Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.





Mary Agnes “Aggie” Rambin

Mary Agnes “Aggie” Rambin, 57, of Laurel, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with interment in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Father Mike Thornton will officiate.

Ms. Rambin retired from BellSouth after 30 years of service and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Faye Rambin.

Survivors include her brothers, Joe Rambin and Merritt Rambin, both of Laurel, and Gus Rambin of Prairieville, La.; sisters, Natalie Embrey of Gulfport, Chris Necaise, Renee Moore, and Gale Blackwood, all of Laurel; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Rambin, Bradley Savage, Gussie Rambin, Brian Moore, Aaron Rambin, and Jerimy Bullock. Honorary pallbearer will be Corey Ramin.

Rosary will be at 6 p.m. this evening. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. this evening at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.



Tammy R. Smith

Tammy R. Smith, 43, of Ellisville, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at her residence.

Arrangements are incomplete, with Jones Funeral Home in Ellisville in charge.
