Obituaries for Sunday, March 30, 2008

Vera Olean Anderson

Vera Olean Anderson, 81, of Grand Bay, Ala, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Magee General Hospital in Magee.

Funeral services will be held at noon today at Double Baptist Church in Raleigh with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson was a custodian and a member of Double Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Thompson and Vera Craft Thompson; her husband, George W. Anderson; son, Edward R. Anderson; daughter, Nellie L. Husband; brothers, Travis Thompson, Quitman Thompson, and Shorty Thompson; and sister, Katherine Edwards.

Survivors include her sons, George W. Anderson and Billy Anderson, both of Grand Bay, Ala.; daughter, Nancy K. Sessions of Grand Bay, Ala.; 28 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until noon this morning at the church.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of the arrangements.



Joy Elizabeth Maxcey

Joy Elizabeth Maxcey, 48, of Sandersville, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 31, at Florence Cemetery. The Rev David Parker will officiate.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Maxcey; brother, Phillip Aaron Prince; and parents, Frank and Hilma Jones.

Survivors include one step-son, Eddie Maxcey of Sandersville, two daughters, Jennifer Henderson of Heidelberg and Kateland Boleware of Sandersville; two brothers, James Garland Jones of Sandersville and Jason Brent Prince of Sweetwater,; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday until funeral time. Memory Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
