Lady War Eagles fall
JACKSON - Wayne County, the Mississippi High School Activities Association's Class 5A champion, were soundly beaten by 4A champion Raymond 65-43 here Friday night at the Mississippi Coliseum in the MHSAA Grand Slam Tournament.
Raymond (32-1) advanced to play in the championship on Saturday. Wayne County finished the season 28-4.
For Wayne County, junior center Brianna Lancaster led her club with 10 points. Lauren Douglas had 9, while Vechatita Bonner and Kierro Frost both scored 8 points.

Laurel defeats Stringer
Laurel defeated Stringer 7-3 Friday afternoon on the second day of the Northeast Jones Baseball Classic. The host Tigers took on Bassfield in the nightcap.
The Tornadoes (2-5) jumped out to a 5-1 lead on the Red Devils as Tevin McInnis had a run-scoring triple. Stringer got within 5-3 in the third as Chandler Blakeney drove in his second run of the game, but the Tornadoes tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the third on RBI-singles from Eli Morris and Dontreal Pruit.

Bobcats improve to 17-1
SCOOBA – Jones County Junior College won two more baseball games here Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats crushed Hibbing Community College (Minn.) 21-0 in the opener and then defeated the host East Mississippi Community College Lions 6-2 in the second game.
JCJC is now 17-1 and will open South Division play at 1 p.m. on Monday vs. Southwest Mississippi Community College at Pete Taylor Park on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. The Bobcats will play at Pearl River Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.
Lady Bobcats drop pair to East Central
DECATUR – East Central Community College swept Jones County Junior College here in softball action Thursday .
The Lady Warriors took the opener 7-1 and the nightcap, 5-3. The games were moved to ECCC because of wet grounds at Merchant Park in Ellisville. The April 9 games originally scheduled for Decatur will now be played at Merchant Park.
JCJC is now 7-14 on the season, 0-2 in the South Division. East Central is 16-1-1.
The Lady Bobcats will continue division play with a noon doubleheader on Saturday at Hinds Community College. After that, JCJC will not play again until Monday, March 22, when they face Meridian Community College at 5 p.m. at Enterprise High School.
