West Jones entertained Collins in prep basketball action at West Jones Monday night, splitting both contests.
In the boys game, Collins downed the Mustangs 74-52.
Devontay Barnett led the Mustangs in scoring with 11 points, followed by Xavier Hilton with 10 points, while Tuner Sheffield came off the bench and scored 10 points. Dasmond McCullum chipped in 9 points and Ashton Williams added 6 points.
Cavosia McNair had a game high 30 points to lead Collins.
With Collins up 36-34 at halftime, the Tigers began to pull away in the third quarter as the Tigers led 50-37 after three quarters and went on to win 74-52.
In the girls game, West Jones took a 64-44 win as Murphy Matthews netted 31 points, followed by Kiara Speed with 10 points.
Collins was led by J. McClinton with 16 points.
"We did well, even though we haven't played for two weeks. We got sluggish in the first half, but that is to be expected when you haven't played for two weeks,” said Lady Mustangs Coach Steve Gieger.
West led 23-8 after the first quarter and 40-20 at halftime. The Lady Mustangs led 56-30 at the end of the third and won 64-44.
West will be back in action Dec. 1 hosting South Jones.

The Laurel Knight Hawks captured the Mississippi Christian Home Educators (MCHE) state basketball championship Monday in Jackson. In the final game of the double elimination tournament, the Knight Hawks defeated the two year reigning state champions, Jackson Victors, with a final score of 67-64.
