West Jones and South Jones split soccer games

West Jones and South Jones squared off in soccer action Tuesday evening, splitting a pair of games. The Lady Braves fell 7-1 to the Lady Mustangs, while the Braves won 2-1 over the Mustangs.

Lady Mustangs 7, Lady Braves 1

For West Jones, Macie Wallace had four goals, Sara Coleman had three goals and two assists, while Beth Coleman and Hunter Eady each had an assist. Abby Baravik had 2 saves.

West Jones improves to 10-0 on the season, while South Jones falls to 3-3.

Braves 2, Mustangs 1

Julio Cruz and Ignocio Cruz scored goals for the winners. Johnathon Parra had an excellent night as goalie blocking a Mustang penalty kick.

The Braves improve to 5-1 on the season.

Evan Buckley made the lone score for West Jones, who fall to 7-3.

The Laurel Knight Hawks captured the Mississippi Christian Home Educators (MCHE) state basketball championship Monday in Jackson. In the final game of the double elimination tournament, the Knight Hawks defeated the two year reigning state champions, Jackson Victors, with a final score of 67-64.
