Powers basketball registration Monday
The Powers Booster Club will hold basketball registration for players 8 years and older at the Powers Community Center Monday at 6:30 p.m. There will be a nurse available to perform the required physicals at a cost of $10 per child. Signup fees due at the time of registration are $65 for first child and $50 for each additional child. The fee for those who played Powers football this year is $50 per child.
Ellisville basketball registration
The Ellisville basketball program will hold basketball registration Monday at 6 p.m. at Merchant Park. Registration fee is $65.
29th Annual Pleasant Grove VFD Turkey Shoot
Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department will host its 29th annual turkey shoot fund-raiser beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday behind Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Twelve-gauge, 20-gauge, 16-gauge, and 410-gauge shotguns are all permitted at the turkey shoot. Soft drinks, hamburgers, sausage dogs will be sold at the event. In addition, there will be inflatable fun jumps for the children. Chicken barbecue lunch plates will be available all day. Individuals can pre-purchase plates for $6. Youth Basketball League forming, looking for coaches

STATE CHAMPIONS
The Laurel Knight Hawks captured the Mississippi Christian Home Educators (MCHE) state basketball championship Monday in Jackson. In the final game of the double elimination tournament, the Knight Hawks defeated the two year reigning state champions, Jackson Victors, with a final score of 67-64.
