South Jones was swept in the season series by West Lauderdale Friday night.
The Braves fell 8-6 to the Knights Friday night. On Tuesday , West Lauderdale beat South Jones 10-0.
Friday, South Jones’ Jon Glaze got the Braves on the board first when he came home on a passed ball to give the Braves an early 1-0 lead.
West Lauderdale tied the game in the top of the second inning when Brett Daugherty bunted to bring home Caleb Melton to tie the game at 1-1.
In the bottom of the third inning, Ryan Geddie singled to left field to score Ben Cooley to break the tie. Then Kelby Knight singled to knock in Glaze. Clint Therrel followed with a hit to bring in Will Cox and give the Braves a 4-1 advantage.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Blake Strickland’s hot line drive down the first base side drove in Benji Sullivan and Glaze to give the Braves a 6-1 lead.
In the top of the fifth inning, Smokey Ethridge singled to knock in Daugherty. Dustin James singled to center field to score Parker Davis. Caleb Melton singled to center field to drive in Wes Stokes and make the score 6-4.
In the top of the seventh, James hit a three-run homer over center to bring home Ethridge and Stokes to give the Knights their first lead of the game. Melton followed with a solo homer over right.
Sullivan took the loss for South Jones (5-4, 0-2). South Jones host Quitman Tuesday night at 7.

STATE CHAMPIONS
The Laurel Knight Hawks captured the Mississippi Christian Home Educators (MCHE) state basketball championship Monday in Jackson. In the final game of the double elimination tournament, the Knight Hawks defeated the two year reigning state champions, Jackson Victors, with a final score of 67-64.
