Several members of the Green Bay Packers — including Wayne County High School graduate Jake Allen — will appear at the first annual Jake Allen Youth Sportsfest at the high school campus Friday and Saturday.
The goal of the event is to encourage kids to get physically and academically fit. Special awards will be given to kids achieving A/B honor roll.
Other Packers scheduled to appear include Danny Lansannah, linebacker; Donald Lee, tight end; and Kregg Lumpkin, running back.
A basketball game featuring the Packers vs. faculty will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a silent auction. There will be a 1.5 mile family fun ran and walk Saturday at 10 a.m. All ages and fitness levels are invited to participate.
There will be a free youth football champ and cheer camp Saturday at 1 p.m. Enrollment is limited to the first 150 for football and the first 50 for the cheer camp. Applications will be accepted on a first-come basis.
Throughout the two-day event, fans will have opportunities to get autographs and take pictures with the celebrities. All area schools and kids are invited to participate. Further information about how to purchase tickets and other events is available at www.jakeallen.info.
