NEW ORLEANS, La. — Sooby Cooks led four players in double figures as the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats posted its first victory of the season Thursday night with an 86-64 victory over Delgado, La., Community College.
In the men’s game, point guard Brian Singleton of Ama, La., had a ‘triple double’ to pace the Bobcats to an 89-80 decision over Delgado.

Cooks, a Quitman freshman, had 16 points for the 1-1 Lady Bobcats, while Demara Bolton added 15. South Jones freshman Dominique Evans and Brittany Leverett added 10 points each.
Bobcats 89, Delgado 80
Singleton scored 15 points, dished out 12 assists and had 10 steals to lead the Bobcats, 2-0. Trenton Marshall had 21 points for the Bobcats.

The Laurel Knight Hawks captured the Mississippi Christian Home Educators (MCHE) state basketball championship Monday in Jackson. In the final game of the double elimination tournament, the Knight Hawks defeated the two year reigning state champions, Jackson Victors, with a final score of 67-64.
