The Jones County Junior College Football Show with Coach Eddie Pierce will make its debut at 6:30 p.m. on Monday on local Comcast Cable channel 11 in Laurel, Hattiesburg and Petal.
Coach Pierce, along with JCJC Director of Sports Broadcasting Lance Pittman, will review highlights and discuss Thursday’s 38-7 Jones’ whipping of the Itawamba Community College Indians from Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field.
JCJC, ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA/JCfootball.com preseason poll, will host East Mississippi at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Lions whipped Co-Lin 28-9 in their opener. (The next NJCAA/JCfootball.com poll will not be released until Sept. 9.)
It will be Hall of Fame Weekend at Jones, as Gene Tullos (basketball), Randall Boone (basketball) and John Perkins (football) will be inducted into the JCJC Sports Hall of Fame at a 6 p.m. banquet on Friday at the Ronald Whitehead Advanced Technology Center. The three inductees will be recognized at halftime of Saturday’s game.

The South Jones Lady Braves will meet their old nemesis Wayne County here Friday night at 6 p.m. in the finals of the Region 5-5A basketball tournament. South Jones downed county rival West Jones while Wayne County came away with an impressive win over Stone County here Tuesday night.

The Laurel Knight Hawks captured the Mississippi Christian Home Educators (MCHE) state basketball championship Monday in Jackson. In the final game of the double elimination tournament, the Knight Hawks defeated the two year reigning state champions, Jackson Victors, with a final score of 67-64.
