Two games were played Friday night in L/JC Dixie Pre-Majors baseball action at Lonnie J. Hosey Field.
The Cubs edged the Yankees 9-8 as Colby Prince doubled twice and was the winning pitcher in the game. Conner Cockrell doubled, while Chase Ward and Slade Dickerson each singled. Ward also pitched for the Cubs.
Alec Barlow, Benji Sullivan, Daniel Attaway, and Sam Blalock had hits for the Yankees. Trey Winpigler and Zac Stockings hurled for the Yankees in defeat.
The Red Sox downed the A’s 9-6 in the other play.
Wade Robertson and Jonathan Glaze each singled twice for the Red Sox, while Zach Ferguson and Derek Bynum each singled once in the contest. Bynum, Roberstson, and Ferguson pitched for the winners.
Zane Walley singled and tripled, while Devin Burch singled and doubled for the A’s. Matthew Farrar added a double. Chase Stewart, Casey Wells, and Burch pitched for the A’s.
No games were played yesterday.

The Laurel Knight Hawks captured the Mississippi Christian Home Educators (MCHE) state basketball championship Monday in Jackson. In the final game of the double elimination tournament, the Knight Hawks defeated the two year reigning state champions, Jackson Victors, with a final score of 67-64.
