Laurel mans conviction upheld

JACKSON — The Mississippi Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal from a Laurel man sentenced to life in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend's 14-month-old son in Hattiesburg.

A Forrest County jury convicted Christopher Logan in 2008 of capital murder.

Prosecutors say Jaylon Kelly died in 2004 of an abdominal hemorrhage caused by blunt force trauma.

The state Court of Appeals upheld Logan's conviction in February, rejecting his claims that prosecutors didn't prove he hurt the child.

The Appeals Court said Logan was the only other person with Jaylon when the boy was injured.
