JASPER COUNTY —
Officials have identified a woman who died in a vehicle crash in Jasper County on Wednesday as a Laurel resident.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Corporal Andy West said a Jones County woman died in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 59 early Wednesday morning.
West, who is the spokesman for Troop H in Meridian, identified the victim as Annie Hosey, 58, of Laurel.
According to West, Hosey was traveling on I-59 North near the 120 Mile Marker about 1:33 a.m. Wednesday when the accident occurred.
“Ms. Hosey was driving a 1995 Buick Century and the other vehicle involved in the crash was an 18-wheeler driven by Jesus Morales Jr., 36, of Laredo, Texas,” West said. “Both vehicles were on the Northbound side of Interstate-59 about seven miles north of Heidelberg, which is just north of the Vossburg exit.”
West said details concerning the crash were still being gathered by the MHP.
He added the cause of the crash was still under investigation at press time.
West said Hosey sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said neither vehicle had passengers.
According to reports, Morales was not injured in the crash.
