JCSD: Teenager’s death ruled accidental

Jones County Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Jones County Thursday night regarding an accident of a teenager.

“A Jones County teenager accidentally fell and became entangled in a rope he was using to construct a tree house,” said Sheriff Alex Hodge.

The teenager was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

In commenting on the cause of death, Sergeant Don Sumrall said, “The cause of the incident was ruled accidental after an investigation was conducted by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Jones County Coroner Nancy Barnett.”

“The Jones County Sheriff’s Department extends our deepest sympathy to the family of the teenager,” Hodge added.
