(UPDATE) 34 Miss. swine flu cases reported

JACKSON (AP) — The Mississippi Department of Health says the state total number of swine flu cases is 34.

Here are the counties where the Health Department has reported swine flu cases: Hinds (1), DeSoto (1), Forrest (2), Holmes (1), Harrison (11), Jackson (10), Lamar (4), Lauderdale (1), Union (1) and Yazoo (2). The latest case was reported Monday.

State epidemiologist Dr. Mary Currier said swine flu responds well to anti-viral medications, but children, the elderly, pregnant women and the chronically ill may be at higher risk for complications.
