An elderly Hebron woman was fatally injured when a pickup truck struck her wheelchair on Highway 529 about two miles north of Highway 84 Friday evening. Officials identified the woman as Mary L. Farris, age unknown, of Highway 529.
Jones County emergency officials said Mrs. Farris was near the edge of the highway in her wheelchair on her way to visit her sister, about 150 yards from her residence. A spokesman for the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department said a truck driven by a Hebron man, who was unidentified, rounded a curve and struck the wheelchair.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
