Three men arrested in early morning drug raid

Fake identification cards, guns and cocaine seized

Agents and officers of the Laurel Police Department early Friday morning, assisted by the LPD’s Special Response Team, took three men into custody charging them with various offenses.

LPD Agent Vince Williams said Friday afternoon that Mario R. Galvin, Eduardo Y. Delao, and Pedro Castro, all of 1603 N. Third Ave., in Laurel, were taken into custody after guns, cocaine and scores of fake ID cards were reportedly found during the execution of a search warrant at about 2 a.m.

“This was a very quick investigation that had a lot of good information with it,” said Williams. “We do a lot of these search warrants but what concerned us the most was the frequency of reports we had concerning guns at the location. That is why we moved in so quickly.”

Delao, 40, has been charged with possession of a firearm by an illegal alien. Castro, 28, is charged with fraudulent use of Social Security cards and reproduction of false IDs. Galvin, 31, has been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.

Two revolvers, one a .38 caliber and the other, a .357 magnum, were allegedly confiscated during the search of the home. There was also more than $500 seized along with about five grams of powdered cocaine.

“The information we had coming in told us there was a lot of activity in and around the location and as we began to look at the people and the area more closely, we found out that to be true,” said Williams.

The Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms may be called in to further prosecute the case, according to Williams, because the gun charge involved an illegal alien.

Williams also said three more suspects being sought after Tuesday mornings big drug roundup are now in custody after follow up operations.

“This is an ongoing investigation for us and we still have a couple of guys out there before we are able to totally wrap up the operation,” said Williams.

Arrested over the past two days were Clyde Jones, Walt Culpepper and Ricardo Arrington. Williams said the three men would be facing a variety of drug related offenses.
