The Laurel Police Department has arrested a Laurel man in connection with grand larceny of a local business.
Investigator Stephen Bullock with the Laurel Police Department said one person was taken into custody Thursday in connection with the Monday larceny of a local arcade.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at Power Play Arcade located in the Sawmill Square Mall.
Bullock said police received a call Monday about 10:45 a.m. concerning a missing money bag.
“Officer Michael Clark arrived at the business and spoke to the victim at the arcade who advised that two black males entered the arcade. Then, one of the individuals entered into the office of the arcade and took a money bag containing approximately $600,” Bullock explained. “Then, after viewing the business’ surveillance tape, we were able to determine that the individual then walked out of the building with the money bag.”
Bullock said officials were able to identify the suspect from the surveillance tape.
As a result of the identification, police were able to make an arrest Thursday.
The suspect has been identified as Ibrahim Muhammad, 20, of Laurel, who was already performing community service ordered by the courts.
Muhammad has now been charged with one count of grand larceny and booked into the Jones County Detention Center, where he remained Thursday evening.
Anyone with information about this or other criminal acts can contact the Laurel Police Department at (601) 425-4711 or Crimestoppers at 601-428-STOP.
