Northview Care Center enjoys devotional

A time of fellowship was enjoyed by all attending the morning devotional at Northview Care Center, also referred to as Northview Villa, on Northview Drive in Laurel.

The Thursday morning devotional was sponsored by Second Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church of Laurel.

Rev. Jerry James, pastor of Second Allen, presided over the devotional and led the group in songs, accompanied by pianist Jerome Simmons.

Speaking from II Timothy chapter 4, Reverend James, told the audience that it’s important for everyone to “have faith and continue to hold on.”

Several of the residents said they were inspired by the message by Pastor James and the song service conducted by the members.

Reverend James said conducting “the fellowship is one of the church’s ways of reaching out to the community.”

Second Allen conducts periodical devotional at the facility.

Delcenia Lightsey, a resident at the center, said she and the other residents “just enjoy the singing and being able to fellowship with each other.”

Jerome Simmons, a member of Second Allen, said he “enjoys coming and fellowshipping with the residents at the center.”

Northview Care Center is owned by Ray Hancock.

The facility conducts daily activities, which sometimes include devotionals by local ministers and their congregations.

Second Allen members said it’s always a joy to be able to witness to others through songs and God’s word.

Dear friends, we are now two weeks into the year 2011. Hopefully, our many optimistic thoughts surrounding this New Year are still very bright! Yes, we still have time to straighten out what we made crooked last year — by following through with the commitments we miscarried then. So, this is still the time of year to renew our resolve to recover and maintain our spiritual, domestic, vocational, and civil priorities.
