Mason principal receives state recognition

Laurel Christian High School Speech and Debate Team Wins Big
Eleven members from the Laurel Christian High School Speech and Debate team traveled to Fairfax, Virgina to compete in the George Mason University Annual Patriot Games Classic 2011 Speech and Debate Tournament. LCHS finished an impressive 6th place out of 101 high schools from 32 states competing in the tournament. The group is coached by speech teacher Anita Boyd, who was awarded the University's prestigious "Mason Mentor" Award, honoring outstanding coaches for their underlying dedication to their school and students participating in speech and debate.

Sylva-Bay to Compete in MS Bar Association’s Mock Trial Competition
On Saturday, January 21 a group of seven Sylva-Bay Academy seniors will travel to Jackson to compete in the regional high school mock trial competition sponsored by the Mississippi Bar Association. SBA’s mock trial team includes Kendra Abney, Katlyn Butler, Emily Gully, Aaron Holifield, Shelby Kemp, Brittany Strickland and Victoria Wardrop.
