Marda Tullos, deputy director of the Jones County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), was struck by a vehicle as she was crossing Beacon Street near McDonald’s Monday afternoon.
Lance Chancellor, EMA public relations director, said Tullos had left the Jones County Emergency Operations Center, located at 22 Mason Street, and was returning from lunch when she was struck by a car.
“She sustained serious injuries from being hit by an elderly driver,” he said. “She’s currently hospitalized at South Central Regional Medical Center and undergoing surgery to repair several broken bones.”
Chancellor said Tullos is currently listed in serious condition at South Central.
