Volunteer fire units from Calhoun, Hebron, Pleasant Ridge and Soso were dispatched to a report of a fully involved structure fire at 2:26 a.m. Friday morning at a home located at 20 Shady Oak Road in Soso.
According to reports from firefighters, the family was able to escape the burning home without injury.
This fire marked the ninth structure fire in Fire District 1 this week with four of them occurring on Thanksgiving Day alone, according to Jones County Fire Council Public Information Officer Lance Chancellor. "Firefighters are at a loss to explain why so many structure fires are occurring with all of them concentrated in one fire district in Jones County," said Chancellor.
