Three-year-old Chloe Hawkins of Taylorsville gives a stuffed animal to Peggy Owens-Manfield, executive director of the Pine Belt Chapter of the American Red Cross, during the Laurel/Jones County Day of Caring. The event gave people an opportunity to drop off non-perishable food items, new toys and pet food at Laurel Wal-Mart for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The donated items were to be used by the American Red Cross and the Animal Rescue League during the holiday season.
