Manchester United dismiss report Mourinho will be sacked today

"Today, you have to give credit to Man United".

These two teams err on the more pragmatic side in terms of play-style, but these days every Manchester United game is worth watching, if only with off-field drama and Mourinho's post-match interviews in mind.

The news prompted former United favourite Gary Neville to accuse the United board of "playing (video game) Football Manager with the biggest club in the world".

While it is understood that patience is wearing thin among the United hierarchy, the immediacy of Friday's report sent ripples around the football world. I am mature. I am a big boy, but clearly, some of the boys - Marcus Rashford was sad on the pitch; Scott McTominay was scared on the pitch.

Scheduled to kick-off at 5:30pm, Mourinho and his staff were said to arrive before 12:00pm this afternoon.

Jose Mourinho drew deeply on his vast experience on Saturday night to turn a woeful evening into a brilliant comeback.

"And 3-2, amazing, but if it was 2-2 I think the feeling would be the same".

It was a performance of genuine heart, and one that reminded us Mourinho still has something to give.

Asked whether anything would stop the "manhunt", Mourinho replied: "No, I don't think so".

"And enough is enough for me".

The Spurs boss may have taken the London club as far as he can and could see Manchester United as the ideal place to take that next step up in his managerial career, despite his eternal link with the Real Madrid job. "It is the life I love and since I was kid I work for this". I understand things in the human nature nowadays and in the industry where I work, I used to love it, I still love it is but it is different.

"At this moment in time there is something rotten to the core in the decisions that have been made in the last four or five years and it has to be coming from the top", Neville said.

The many concerns of those fans who fill Old Trafford every week will not evaporate during the week-long worldwide break, but at least they went home smiling after a super comeback.

"I hope it's not true, but if it is true I think it's an absolute disgrace".

The centre-back watched Kenedy run past him for Newcastle's first goal and generally looked all at sea until Mourinho substituted him in the 19th minute in order to bring on Mata.
