Kanye West to Meet with President Trump at the White House

West is scheduled to visit on Thursday, The New York Times reports.

Kanye West will meet with President Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner at the White House on Thursday.

The two parties also plan to talk about prison reform, which is something Trump spoke about with West's wife, Kim Kardashian West, last September.

Kanye West's pro-President Donald Trump rant continues to prompt ill reactions from celebrities. During the presidential transition, Trump memorably brought West in front of cameras in the Trump Tower lobby for an impromptu gaggle with reporters.

The meeting with Kushner is expected to focus on criminal-justice issues, which fall under his purview as a senior adviser to the president. In multiple tweets, he called Trump "my brother" and said the two share "dragon energy". The surprise resignation of United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday has left an opening for West to get involved with politics full-time, at least to Twitter.

Like Trump, Kanye has a flair for the dramatic, and understands the power of an inflammatory statement. They bully me. They bullied me backstage.

He also made several controversial remarks about slavery and shared a picture of himself wearing a baseball cap emblazoned with Trump's Make America Great Again slogan on Twitter, writing alongside the snap: "this represents good and America becoming whole again". Do you know how wrong about politics you have to be for, like, me to notice? We will no longer outsource to other countries. "We build factories here in America and create jobs".

"I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon". West, who has faced criticism for his support of the president, previously met with Trump when he was president-elect before being sworn into office.
