A Georgia high school football player died Sunday evening after sustaining a severe brain injury from a game Friday night, Atlanta's FOX 5 reported. According to his uncle, it wasn't until then that Thomas's arm and leg went numb and Thomas collapsed on the field.
They said that about a third of Pike County High School students did not attend school Monday.
Thomas, who was a junior linebacker, was injured during his team's game against Peach County High School.
Thomas was then rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries to reduce brain swelling. Dylan was "the one that was the golden child in the family and really brought the family together".
