Entertainment Weekly hits newsstands on Friday.
Larson will play the titular badass in her upcoming standalone film, the first in the MCU to be headlined by a female superhero. Don't expect the same style though, since this feels much more like a hybrid sci-fi and cop action adventure. They are perfectly comic book accurate!
The first question answered is what costume/suit Larson will be rocking. Donning the famous red, blue, and gold suit, Larsen looks ready to take on the galaxy - and even take down Thanos (Josh Brolin) when she returns to Earth for Avengers 4. Of course, these were just rumors we didn't necessarily buy into.
Marvel decided to not make this an origin story, which is an interesting choice. EW also dropped some spoiler-ific details about the story, and today's Nerdist News is tackling the biggest reveals!
She can't help but be herself. Rambeau is a single mom with a daughter, and we stan a cool, confident, self-sufficient USAF fox who makes sacrifices daily for the good of country and the future of her little girl while supporting her fellow women in the armed services.
Brie added, "She's also quick to jump to things, which makes her unbelievable in battle because she's the first one out there and doesn't always wait for orders. But the (not) waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw". Danvers starts things off with her powers, in space, working as a member of Starforce on the Kree planet of Hala alongside Guardians of the Galaxy's Korath (Djimon Hounsou) and newcomer to the MCU Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan).
Okay, so first thing's first: This ain't your daddy's origin story. She earlier spoke to Variety about playing the superhero and said, "I will say that I learned that I'm much stronger than I realise in playing her".
The associated article also goes on to reveal that Carol will already have her powers as the movie begins, and has left Earth to join the elite Kree military unit Starforce, commanded by Law's Mar-Vell. Carol then finds herself back on Earth where she's going to have to face an alien threat, the Skrulls, which are attacking Earth - Ben Mendelsohn will play Talos, their leader. But, before "Avengers 4", we will get to know more about when "Captain Marvel" premieres. Larson had previously been spotted on the set wearing a different version of Carol Danvers' signature costume, but we finally got to see the final Captain Marvel outfit...and it's glorious.
