Health officials have confirmed single cases of West Nile virus in Duval and Nassau counties, according to the Florida Department of Health.
"There has been an increase in WNV-infected mosquitoes identified this year throughout the state, an indication that the risk is widespread and ongoing", said Public Health Commissioner Monica Bharel, MD, MPH.
Officials say that the woman in her 70s and woman in her 50s both were hospitalized and released, and the woman in her 60s was not hospitalized.
