Tesla takes flight in Barrie, driver charged

Officers say the vehicle had been driven quickly northbound on Little Avenue before the crash.

After speeding over railroad tracks in Barrie, Ontario, Canada yesterday, the auto lost control after landing and crashed into the parking lot of a nearby elementary school.

The vehicle flew 100 feet in the opposing lane before skidding into a tree at the Assikinack Public School parking lot.

"The driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries", a police statement read.

The driver is due in court in October.

A collision involving a Tesla occurred on Little Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Security footage captured the roadster getting airborne speeding over railroad tracks before crashing in a parking lot.
