Everton complete triple deal for Mina, Andre Gomes and Bernard

Everton have signed Barcelona's Colombia defender Yerry Mina, 23, for 30.25m euros (£27.19m) along with Mina's team-mate Andre Gomes on a season-long loan.

As the transfer window closed with Manchester United unable to land another centre-back, Tottenham Hotspur failing to make any summer signings and Jack Grealish remaining an Aston Villa player, the Merseyside club emerged most satisfied with their day's work. However after the initial loan Southampton will have an obligation to buy the Englishman for £20 million.

Portuguese midfielder Gomes, 25, will join on a season-long loan at a cost of 2.25 million euros for the English club.

"It is important that the club want to fight for something". It is the best league in the world.

New Everton defender Yerry Mina has revealed that he is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the Premier League.

Everton have completed the signing of Brazil winger Bernard on a four-year deal from Shakhtar Donetsk. "This is a great opportunity for me", said Mina. Everton always was a big option for me, especially after speaking with the coach, Marco Silva.

The 25-year-old joined Barcelona in a £42m deal in 2016, less than a fortnight after helping Portugal win the European Championship.

Gomes has always been a fringe player at Barcelona, despite signing for a fee of £31m plus €20m in add-ons in 2016, with only 46 appearances made in La Liga since joining from Valencia. Everton agreed a €2.25m (£2.02m) loan fee for the 25-year-old, who now has a minor injury but passed a medical held in Barcelona, and will pay his wages in full for the season.
