April the giraffe who gained prominence with millions through a live-stream of her pregnancy previous year, is pregnant again. Patch says the calf is due during the early part of spring around March.
Oliver, who fathered Tajiri, is also the father of the new calf - whose gender won't be known until April gives birth. "At Animal Adventure Park, our top priority is preserving these handsome, majestic creatures and increasing awareness of the threat giraffes are facing", Mr. Patch said in a statement. She's pictured here with her calf, Tajiri. Animal Adventure Park owner, Jordan Patch, confirmed on the Today show July 25.
Last month, Patch announced that they were performing some tests on April's fecal matter to determine if April would be carrying another calf.
"The average [gestation period] for a giraffe is 15 months", Patch said. Tajiri -Swahili for "hope" - was born on April 15, 2017 at just under 130 pounds and more than 5 feet tall.
April's fans will once again be able to follow her pregnancy journey via social media.
April made internet fame in 2017 when the world collectively watched and waited for months for her to give birth to baby "Taj", on the park's live stream, with more than a million viewers tuning in to watch the actual birth.
