AT&T’s DirecTV Now plans will get a $5 price hike

It's charging $5 more a month, making its cheapest plan $40.

AT&T justified the price hike through the introduction of its cloud DVR service and the addition of more than 200 local channels nationwide.

Currently, PlayStation Vue offers subscribers access to a number of cable channels and networks such as Discovery Channel, AMC, Disney Channel, ESPN, HGTV, The Food Network, and more, while also providing access to premium channels on a standalone basis without the need for a standard cable plan, such as HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and more.

"To continue delivering the best possible streaming experience for both new and existing customers, we're bringing the cost of this service in line with the market - which starts at a $40 price point", AT&T said.

If these price increase continue, is the value of slim streaming TV packages going to remain? Sony today announced plans to raise the price of all multi-channel PS Vue plans by $5, starting July 24.

Just days after AT&T announced that all of its DirecTV Now streaming packages would see their price bumped up by $5, Sony has shared eerily similar news with PlayStation Vue subscribers.

For those who cut the cord in hopes that they could avoid the constant hiking of their bills, they're finding that the reality of the per subscriber fee is also hitting streaming services. Let us know down in the comments.

"We vow to continue providing exceptional service to our customers, with plans to add more broadcast stations and content that resonates with fans, as well as ongoing feature enhancements". Likely, consumers believe - because of its name - a PlayStation is required to use it.

Any new customers that signs up for the service after July 26 will immediately see the new prices. No change in channels included, just a 25-percent increase in price.
