Andrew Lincoln Discusses Rick Grimes' Departure on The Walking Dead at #SDCC

The trailer debuted at "The Walking Dead's" Comic-Con panel following the "Fear the Walking Dead" presentation, which featured its own trailer for the upcoming season.

The British actor, who has starred in the post-apocalyptic series as Rick Grimes since it began in 2010, officially announced his exit at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.

It looks pretty certain that Rick (played by Andrew Lincoln) was going to die in season nine of The Walking Dead. Oscar-nominated Morton's other credits include Sweet and Lowdown, In America, The Messenger, and Her among others. "This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes", he told fans at the panel.

It had previously been reported that Lincoln's character, former police officer and long-lasting survivor Rick Grimes, would be leaving the show.

Lincoln bid an emotional farewell to fans at SDCC 2018, thanking the showrunners and fans for the experience he had on the show. "I mean, I'm speaking on behalf of Robert Kirkman, but it was sold to me by my agent that it was seen through the eyes of Rick and then it would turn into an ensemble". In fact, he went so far as to say that there will be two episodes in Season 9 that are his personal favorites since the pilot! "This has been the most extraordinary, amazing, and attractive experience of my career made largely because of you guys". Gimple will now oversee The Walking Dead universe for AMC.

"It's been so much a part of my life, I breathed it for 10 years", Lincoln added.

There are certainly some gnarly new walkers in the trailer, reminiscent of the early seasons of The Walking Dead.
