Is Find X the phone you've been waiting for? The most noticeable thing about the phone is that it comes with a almost bezeless screen that has no notch, a trend which more than a few smartphone manufacturers have implemented in new phones for 2018. The phone packs a 3,730mAh battery and supports quick charging as well.
The Oppo Find X features a 6.42-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Panoramic Arc Screen with 19:5:9 aspect ratio and a 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. Instead, there is a motorised slider that opens and closes automatically whenever you open or close the camera app. It's similar to what Vivo has done with its Nex phone but in Oppo's case, it's not just a tiny pop-up module for housing just the front camera. No headphone jack on this one, I'm afraid, and wireless charging is also absent. OPPO has made a statement with the Find X - they agree that big screens don't need a notch, and we're so happy about that.
With OPPO setting up its launch event for its vaunted Find X phone in Paris, it shouldn't be too far of a stretch to realize that the Chinese company wants to step out of its comfort zone again. As per Oppo, the sliding mechanism was tested to 300,000 slides the average person unlocks their phone 100-150 times a day. Its rear-facing cameras are in the traditional position on the back of the phone.
In the software department, the Find X boots ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. For now, there's no information on what markets the phone will be available in - or what it'll cost - but we should know more in the coming weeks. For example, to unlock the device, you'll turn the screen on, swipe up on the lockscreen, which will then force the phone to open up to reveal the front camera. There is also support for 3D emojis similar to iPhone X ones.
Since Lamborghini is often associated with speed, OPPO is finally introducing its Super VOOC charging technology on this special edition premium device. For the camera department, the device sports a dual rear camera setup with 16-megapixel primary sensor with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization, Phase Detection Autofocus, Dual-Tone LED flash and 20-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chip with 8GB of RAM and comes with up to 256GB of storage.
What's interesting is that the Find X doesn't offer fingerprint recognition of any kind, even though earlier rumours claimed it would have an in-screen sensor. This technology uses 15,000 nit facial dot recognition which Oppo boasts is 20 times safer than using a fingerprint. Up front, the smartphone houses a 25-megapixel camera for selfies with 3D scan support. Oppo also mentions the phone will ship to customers in August of this year, though it does not elaborate on whether or not this includes both Europe and North America together or just Europe. Coming to the pricing, the OPO Find X with 256GB storage and VOOC flash charge technology is priced at Euro 999 (approx $1156 / Rs 79,000).
