Mowgli is a dark themed 'The Jungle Book', trailer released

Warner Bros. has finally rolled out the first trailer for the highly anticipated film Mowgli.

Just two years after Disney released their live-action/CGI remake of The Jungle Book into the wild, Warner Bros.is now unveiling its own rendition of Rudyard Kipling's classic story.

Directed by Andy Serkis, the film is based on Rudyard Kipling's iconic novel The Jungle Book which is the story of a boy who was brought up by wolves in the jungles of India.

Along with Mowgli trailer, a behind-the-scenes featurette sees Serkis outlining his creative vision for the film.

Rounding out the cast are Peter Mullan, as the leader of the wolf pack, Akela; Jack Reynor, as Mowgli's brother Wolf; Eddie Marsan, as Nisha's mate, Vihaan; and Tom Hollander as the scavenging hyena, Tabaqui.

Indian origin actor Rohan Chand will be seen portraying the confused but courageous Mowgli with Matthew Rhys, and Freida Pinto. It is not so much of a child's fairy tale. That said, considering how new he is to the realm of directing, the fact that Mowgli seems as polished as it does is something to behold.

In an interview on ITV's This Morning in Britain, Serkis stated that he wanted to tell the story of Mowgli as an outsider and survivor. The first trailer for Mowgli, which stars Serkis, Rohan Chand, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, and Benedict Cumberbatch has arrived.

It will be interesting to see how the movie will depict the friendly bear Baloo (Andy Serkis). Several scenes especially stand out like the one where a bruised Shere Khan makes an entry or when one of the Bandar-log screams his guts out at the camera.

Mowgli releases in Australia on October 18, 2018. Christian Bale who has lent his voice to the iconic character of Bagheera talks to Mowgli in the trailer and says, "When you were a cub, I looked you in the eye and saw no fear".
