Judge powers Yankees past Red Sox with late home run

The Boston defense has allowed 11 errors over the last 10 games, compared to two errors for NY over its last 10. But then again, I had Philly beating Boston in five, so take my predictions with less than even a grain of salt. Boston headed into this week's three-game series with a one-game lead in the Division - one that shrunk on Tuesday night. The Yanks were carrying a six-game win streak, winning 15 out of their past 16 games. It is the Yankees' best stretch since also going 17-1 from June 2-18, 1953.

When Aaron Judge stepped to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning on Wednesday, the crowd noise was deafening.

With Barnes struggling to start the eighth, Carson Smith already used and Joe Kelly the only late-inning arm available, Cora wanted Kimbrel to face Gardner and Judge. It was the second blown save in four appearances for Kimbrel, who recently became the fastest reliever to 300 career saves. "Gardy's triple, that home run - I couldn't hear anything".

"We all have a lot of confidence in each other that we're going to get the job done", Gardner said.

Gardner's batting average rose from.198 to.214, and while some may have wanted a change at leadoff spot, it will not be occurring anytime soon. In Wednesday's case, a four-run eighth inning ended up yielding a 9-6 win for NY. "Some of the things we're seeing suggest better days are ahead".

Well, it's official. The NY Yankees are now the best team in baseball.

"That's just who those guys are", Boone said of the expectations for NY. "They expect to be a great team". However, New York has been on a tear lately with their offense while Boston has hit some hiccups in recent weeks.

"To play high-energy baseball this time of year is something that really prepares you down the road", Yankees first baseman Neil Walker said. The Red Sox, on the other hand, have gone 25-11 SU this year and are 17-18 ATS. He had three hits, three RBIs and a diving catch in right field as NY won its eighth straight overall and 11th in a row at home. "So just keep your head up, battle and come back tomorrow".

The Red Sox have hit 19 home runs in their last 10 games. Hanley Ramirez destroyed a hanging slider to left for his fourth homer, and 13th of his career against the Yankees, to give Boston a 6-5 lead. Sabathia made four starts against the team in 2017, compiling a spotless 4-0 record in 2017, posting a flawless 4-0 record with a 1.04 ERA and 18 strikeouts.

Dodgers rookie Walker Buehler pitches for the first time since starting a combined no-hitter last week in Mexico. The rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox is back.

Cora said treatment options for carpal tunnel syndrome could include icing or massages. The extent of his absence will be determined Thursday afternoon following a bullpen session in NY.

Then manager Alex Cora called on closer Craig Kimbrel. We weren't trying to give him anything to hit. We need him to compete. Rodriguez is 3-0 with a 5.29 ERA and 39 strikeouts.

Porcello was tagged for five runs in 5 1/3 innings. During his most recent outing, Rodriguez struck out 10 while throwing 107 pitches. On both hits, the Yankees' dugout erupted in celebration.
