Love was kept out of the second half of Cleveland's 109-99 victory as a precaution after he and Tatum accidentally knocked heads.
Shortly after Cavaliers Coach Ty Lue said Love was not ruled out for Game 7, the team tweeted that Love was experiencing concussion-like symptoms and is listed as "out". With a loss, the Cavs' season will come to an end.
That was despite Love - second only to James in terms of importance to the organisation - going off injury early on in the game.
Cleveland forced a winner-take-all showdown behind another legendary performance from the four-time NBA MVP, who went off for 46 points (17-of-33 from the floor, 5-of-7 from beyond the arc), 11 rebounds, nine assists and three steals Friday night.
"The best player in the game", said Stevens.
There's a lot to criticize LeBron for and many of us still sting at the memory of his ill-considered navel gazing "The Decision" back in 2019 when he fled to the warmer climates literally and figuratively of the Miami Heat. "But after the game, Larry asked me if I was I OK, so I'm guessing he was the culprit of it. It'll be around-the-clock treatment, and we'll see what happens".
James walked slowly, nearly shuffling his feet as he left Quicken Loans Arena early Saturday morning.
He stayed down for several minutes before he was pulled to his feet.
11/9/3/1 - Three different bullet points for LeBron? Love being checked on in the locker room now.
Tatum, meanwhile, remained in the game following the collision that left a welt on the back-left portion of his head. "I'll try to get as much sleep as possible". "I was still trying to make plays, put our team in position to win". "I have a passion for the game", James said.
"If you were watching the game, I was getting doubled as soon as I caught the ball", Horford said.
"We've still got to come out aggressive and play Celtics basketball", he said.
But they caught a break when Tatum was cleared to play on Saturday.
It's a huge blow to the Cavs as Love has produced well for the team this postseason.
In March, he disclosed that he had suffered a panic attack during a game in November, and he experienced a similar episode in January. While the 24-year-old rarely stuffs the stat sheet, he makes his presence known in each game with tenacious defense and an unmatched will to win.
Love's had two concussions since 2016, and if he's been diagnosed with one now, it's hard to imagine he'd be able to pass the tests necessary to be allowed to play by Sunday night.
