Hamas Restored Calm to Gaza After Warnings From Egypt — Israeli Intelligence Minister

On Monday at least 62 Palestinian demonstrators were martyred and thousands more injured by Israeli armed forces along the Gaza border, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The death toll led to worldwide condemnations of Israel and calls for an independent investigation.

Under Israel's leading general, the late Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Israel made a decision to vacate the strip and turn it over to its Palestinian residents in 2005.

The United States moved its embassy Monday afternoon - the day before the 70 anniversary of the modern state of Israel - sparking deadly clashes between Palestinians and the Israeli military. His words; "This is not peaceful resistance", he said.

Pope Francis said he was "very worried" by escalating violence in the Middle East, with Arab foreign ministers set to hold an "extraordinary" meeting yesterday to discuss the situation.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al Maliki suggested on Thursday that Arab countries should recall their ambassadors to the United States in response to Washington moving its Israel embassy to Jerusalem. "Canada calls for an immediate independent investigation to thoroughly examine the facts on the ground - including any incitement, violence, and the excessive use of force".

"The unacceptable violence and incitement exacerbate mistrust between Palestinians and Israelis", she said, noting that intra-Palestinian reconciliation remains critical to restore hope for the future and a political horizon. It says those approaching the fence have used explosive devices and firebombs, while soldiers have been shot at. Only 3 were Islamic Jihad.
