In tradition with 'Free Comic Book Day, ' the city of San Diego is giving away 5,000 comic books to patrons at 36 locations on May 5th, 2018. The event is the brainchild of a California comic book retailer who was inspired by the success of "free scoop night" at a Baskin-Robbins next to his shop.
Calling all comic book fans: North Delta's George Mackie Library has a day of programming planned just for you.

There will also be face painting and a store-wide sale throughout the day.
If anyone feels like cosplaying for the day please feel free, as a few actual superheroes bounding around would be sure to make the event even more fun and exciting for the kids.
"Since comic books don't have a lot of heavy text, they're a great way for those struggling with reading to access stories".
Preston's own independent comic book shop, That Comic Shop, is taking part in the day and hopes to see hundreds descend upon its Friargate store. The store is located at 609 Main St. Not only are they offering free comic books, but also thousands of comics for only 50 cents.
"This is probably the largest selection ever; every year it gets larger", said Romeo, whose shop has served comic readers for 26 years.
42-year-old Noel, inset, said: "We usually have between 10 and 15 titles so luckily there should be something for everyone".
Free Comic Book Day was started as a way to end illiteracy.
Due to the number of superhero movies and merchandise out there, comic book properties are bigger than they've ever been, Klie said. There's also going to be a special raffle, with the victor announce Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. on the Matt N Tim Facebook page.
