Buhari returns to Nigeria following Medical Trip to London

The presidential jet that conveyed him from London landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja about 6.45pm.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari returned home on Friday after travelling to Britain this week to see his doctor, his spokesman said.

In a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Monday, May 7, the president's doctor requested his presencewhen he recently had a "technical stopover" in London.

"Let's check the records, no other president in this country has made public their medical trips overseas", Shehu said.

Mr Buhari left Abuja on Tuesday on a four-day medical trip to the UK.

Shortly before the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in the United Kingdom in April, he was in London to attend to his health for nine days.

He had stayed in London for two days last week while returning from Washington, United States, where he met with President Donald Trump. According to them, President Buhari was the first African Head of State invited on a State Visit to China following the December 2015 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.
