AI WARNING as self-driving auto 'collides with oncoming vehicle'

Waymo released a video of the incident on YouTube.

A crash involving a Waymo self-driving vehicle occurred in Chandler, Arizona, on Friday afternoon. As the Honda swerved, the vehicle continued eastbound into the westbound lanes of Chandler Blvd.

"The Waymo vehicle was in autonomous mode and had an occupant sitting in the driver's seat", Tyler told Newsweek. Both vehicles had to be towed after the collision, which was first reported by ABC15.

"Today while testing our self-driving vehicle in Chandler, Arizona, another auto traveling in an oncoming lane swerved across the median and struck our minivan", Waymo said in a statement to SlashGear.

In March, a woman, Elain Herzberg, was fatally hit by an Uber vehicle that was in autonomous mode in Tempe.

The accident was not a malfunction of the Waymo vehicle, according to Detective Seth Tyler, the Public Information Officer for the Chandler Police Department. Uber suspended its self-driving vehicle testing after that incident.

Another self-driving vehicle accident happened in Chandler, Arizona that resulted in minor injuries.

Detective Seth Tyler said the driver of that Honda had to swerve to avoid slamming into a vehicle that had the green light and was moving into the intersection. The Alphabet-owned company has been testing its self-driving cars in the Phoenix metro area, including in Chandler.

Raw video shows a auto jumping the median and colliding with a Waymo self-driving minivan.

So far, Waymo hasn't commented on the crash.

Less than two months ago, an Uber self-driving vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian as she crossed the street.

Google faces a huge criticism after its autonomous vehicle crashes into a Honda city in Chandler, Arizona. After the incident, Uber stopped its self-driving auto testing across the United States.
