The alliance means Xbox Live players can share what they're playing on Discord and friends can see it and join them.
Personally, this is great. After either method, friends in the same Discord servers will be able to see what you're playing on Xbox Live. Not only that, you have a lot of Play Anywhere games coming out which this would be ideal for. Hopefully, the collaboration between Xbox and Discord will open up the chance for more applications to operate on a cross-platform level. Citing the popularity of the Discord program that lets gamers communicate easily, the Xbox Wire announcement explained how the integration will work. The lack of integrations with other consoles has been a common complaint, and many gamers would love to be able to have cross-platform chats with their friends while gaming. On an Xbox One, you go into the settings to link a new social account.
The feature isn't available just yet, but Microsoft says it will soon be available for Xbox Insiders to test in preview. When you receive your unique code from Xbox, open the Discord app and insert the code into the Connections tab. You will then see an Xbox Live option, click on it and sign into your Xbox account. With this new team-up between Discord and Xbox, interactivity and connection between a group of friends has been made simpler than ever before. You'll be asked to enable permission and when you do your two accounts will be linked.
