Malayalam actor Kollam Ajith, known for his performance in over 500 Malayalam films, breathed his last on 5 April as he succumbed to stomach ailments. The actor had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi.
Born as Ajith Kumar, the actor used Kollam as a suffix to his name as he was brought up in Kollam.
He started his career with 1984 hit Paranu Paranu Paranu by ace Malayali director Padmarajan. He was last seen in 2012 film Ivan Ardhanaari, and was mainly known for his villain roles. He was considered for most negative roles after the 1987 film.
Kollam Ajith is survived by his wife Prameela and two Gayathri and Sreehari. According to reports on regional websites, his mortal remains will be taken to his native place in the morning and the funeral will take place today itself.
Interestingly, Ajith never dreamt of being an actor and was interested in movie making.
"Ajith had done notable villain roles in the 90's in Malayalam cinema". He has acted with the Mammootty and Mohanlal, in a good number of films. In 2016, he took a break from acting and donned the heat of a director-cum-script writer for Malayalam movie Calling Bell.
