The video - which debuted at Sunday night's ceremony in Los Angeles where the singer picked up Female Artist of the Year - sees the Nashville-born star dance in front of a sign that reads "Joes" Deli'. The videos for the first three singles were futuristic, smoldering, and full of sexy young adult vibes, but "Delicate" seems a little more willing to show Swift's human side. She is escorted inside the event venue and is seen wearing a stunning blue gown. The Washington Post speculates that the note might connect to some of the song's lyrics that are about a text.
Looking ahead of herself, Swift is looking forward to her stadium tour launching May 8, tickets can be purchased here.
She decides to enjoy her invisibility, tearing off the bottom part of her previously full-length dress and leaving it with a hemline at mid-thigh. They've surmised that it's a reference to Taylor's boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, as well as the title of the song. She kicks off her shoes and starts dancing like nobody's watching in the rain. After jumping on the hotel counter and doing pirouettes, Swift heads to a train station. Instead of her usual #squad, though, Swift is alone.
"Delicate" is about Swift's experiences in falling in love and being anxious about it, as she knows her reputation might affect someone's feelings for her. The ad, directed by Spike Jonze and choreographed by Ryan Heffington, sees dancer Margaret Qualley in similar circumstances: dressed up, bored, seemingly constrained by her high-class surroundings. On Thursday, she announced that Camila Cabello and Charli XCX will be her opening acts.
"Sometimes I wonder when you sleep/Are you ever dreaming of me?/Sometimes when I look into your eyes/I pretend you're mine, all the damn time/'Cause I like you", she sings.
Swift previously teased the video on her Instagram with a handwritten note about when the clip would drop.
Taylor Swift has returned with another visual offering from last year's Reputation.
From looking exactly like you when your favourite tune comes on at home, to doing the splits on top of a random vehicle, it's Tay like you've never seen her before. Coincidence?? We think not.
