Sri Lanka's Chandimal receives two-match suspension for slow over-rate

Bangladesh promoted the in-form Liton Das - who has been in fantastic touch since his magnificent 94 during the second innings of the first Test against Sri Lanka just over two months ago - to an opening slot ahead of Soumya Sarkar and the decision came up trumps.

Sent in to bat, the hosts made 214 for Six in the stipulated 20 overs.

The openers, Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka, began well but failed to make a substantial contribution, something they will look to change on Friday. This has resulted in his suspension for the next two T20I's against India and Bangladesh on March 12 and 16 respectively.

Captain and part-time spinner Mahmudullah Riyad checked the run flow with two wickets in an over, claiming Mendis and Dasun Shanaka (0), both batsmen caught by Sabbir Rahman. Among rest players, Tharanga remain not out with 32 runs so far.
