President Trump mocks all-time low Oscar ratings

According to FiveThirtyEight, President Trump's current approval rating sits at 40.4 percent, with 54.3 percent of Americans polled disapproving of the job he's doing.

After reciting the text of Trump's tweet, Kimmel got serious.

Jimmy Kimmel, who was one of the hosts also clapped back at Trump. Problem is, we don't have stars anymore - except your President (just kidding!)' He's not narcissistic. "But the truth is every year since Netflix happened, ratings are down for every big TV show - the Super Bowl, Grammys, Emmys, Golden Globes".

Following his spat with Donald Trump about the Oscar's lowest-ever ratings early Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel followed up with more shots at the president on Live! on ABC.

"None other than President Trump called "Get Out" the best three-fourth of a movie he had seen this year", Kimmel had quipped at the gala, where several celebrities took a stand for immigrants and "Dreamers" amid the ongoing immigration debate over a programme that protects hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation.

Then the coup de grace: "I really think he'd love the best picture victor, The Shape of Water".

The back-and-forth started yesterday when the president tweeted: "Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY". "Basically, it's like his life story, right?"

Kimmel noted that his Tweet got far more "likes" than the president's, 547,000 to 182,777. He's being sued by porn star Stormy Daniels, who had an affair with Trump from 2006 through 2007.

Former reality TV star Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday that the problem with the Oscars is "we don't have Stars anymore" - except for him.

Kimmel was obviously referring to Trump's latest sex scandal.
