North Korea dismissed the report, although intelligence experts estimate the North has weaponised stockpiles of as many as 25 chemical agents, including sarin and VX nerve gas.
"If the United States finally holds joint military exercises while keeping sanctions on the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea], the DPRK will counter the USA by its own mode of counteraction and the U.S. will be made to own all responsibilities for the ensuing consequences", North Korea's official KCNA news agency said in a commentary on Saturday.
Syria has periodically sought to appease the global community on the subject of chemical weapons. If the report is accurate, she said, "it would represent an ominous marker of how far the crimes and violations committed by the Syrian government have eroded respect for long-established prohibitions".
