Apple Ditches Beats, Developing AirPod's Bigger Sibling Under its Brand Name

Apple is also rumoured to working on a second-generation pair of AirPod earbuds, which include an always-on Siri. The company already counts Beats under its umbrella of brands, and indeed several Beats headphones models use the same Apple W1 Bluetooth chipset that gives the AirPods their easy-connectivity process.

According to Kuo, the iPhone maker wants the headphones to offer high-quality sound and be "convenient" like AirPods as well.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple's forthcoming iOS 12 mobile operating will bring a new tool dubbed as Digital Health, which enables parents to monitor the time their kids spend on their iPad and iPhones. Further, the headphones are expected to be higher priced compared to the AirPods, the analyst says. However, the new headphones would nearly certainly impact AirPods sales.

Kuo has heard that Apple is working with metal injection molding company SZS. The analyst expects a 100% to 200% jump in the component orders in fiscal 2018, while shipments of assembled devices is expected to rise 60% to 80%.

Apple's AirPods is now priced at Rs 12,900 in India.The wireless AirPods are powered by Apple's W1 chip, and provides up to 5 hours of playback on a single charge. There is also no word on whether they will be wireless but it is safe to assume they will and will possible utilize the updated technology that will live in AirPods 2.

That chipset, it's been reported, will allow for more comprehensive Siri functionality. While this is on the inside, from the outside the upcoming AirPods version is said to be water resistant. The new headphone is most likely to be a high-end product and is likely to feature an "all-new" design. Also, its ease of use and relatively affordable pricing is a major reason for its success.
