Surprise 'Cloverfield Paradox' to drop on Netflix after Super Bowl

Here's the official description released Sunday by Netflix: "In the near future, a group of global astronauts on a space station are working to solve a massive energy crisis on Earth. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must fight for survival following their frightful discovery".

Let's all take a minute to appreciate how awesome Netflix is: not only are they bringing us another Cloverfield movie, but they're bringing it to us tonight. Just hit the buttons on the bottom of this page.

In an unexpected announcement during Super Bowl LII, Netflix aired a 30-second Cloverfield sequel trailer before revealing it will premiere immediately after the Super Bowl.

Fans are already reacting on Twitter with their thoughts about the new movie which we hoped would come to Netflix but we didn't know would actually be coming after the Super Bowl.

Our sister site Deadline first reported news of Cloverfield's imminent arrival. The first trailer for monster movie "Cloverfield", featuring Lizzy Caplan, offered minimal details about the film and featured a release date (Jan. 18, 2008), but no title. ABRAMS under their hat, director Ava DuVernay seems to have been the one person clued into The Cloverfield Paradox's big launch.

Helping to bring this third entry to life is a very talented cast that includes Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War), Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beauty and the Beast), Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids) and David Oyelowo (Selma).
