Richardson police officer shot on duty, gunman at large

Police say McCall fired his weapon intermittently during the course of the standoff but was later taken into custody. But records at the Collin County jail show that a 26-year-old man was booked early Thursday on a charge of capital murder of a peace officer. "Court records indicate he was told to appear in court late previous year but was deemed delinquent last month after he didn't respond to requests to appear in court". Police said authorities negotiated with shooting suspect who barricaded himself inside the complex but he continued to fire shot.

A Texas officer was fatally shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex. Shortly after midnight, Fort Worth officers arrived at the hospital.

Early Thursday morning police also identified the civilian victim killed as Rene Gamez. He was eventually taken into custody.

A person living inside the apartment was also killed.

It's believed McCall shot Gamez but the investigation is continuing, Plano police spokesman David Tilley said.

Police have released the name of the man accused of shooting and killing a Richardson police officer and a civilian on Wednesday evening.

Police surrounded a building at Breckinridge Point apartment.

Late Wednesday, Richardson police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Perlich said the suspected shooter surrendered after being cornered in an apartment.

Sherrard was rushed to Medical City Plano, where he was pronounced dead hours later, police said.
